What is embedded software?

An Embedded Software is a collection of programs which are not meant for computers, but other electronic counterparts like cellular phones, automobile systems, robots, airplanes, missiles, television, toys, pacemaker, etc. Embedded software is generally employed for microchips which are totally different from the well known Central Processing Units (C.P.U).P.U).
