Social Media Sites: Benefits for Web Marketers
Social networking and online social bookmarking are incredibly popular these days. It can be a little difficult, however, when it comes to knowing which to choose. This is why many Internet users find social network reviews valuable. When reading these reviews, though, you might be shocked at how people’s opinions vary widely Some people would fight for their social media choices to the bitter end. That’s probably because the site they fell in love with is one of the few they tried and they got hooked on one site without really knowing what’s out there. I’ve known a few who fought for their choice without even knowing the difference between business networking sites , bookmarking sites or sites that feature online social networking as a means for people to have fun, date, play games or do various other entertainment-related activities. Even some avid social media users don’t know that there are also social media platforms, like Yuwie, that use small amounts of money per click to pay for people to use and promote their sites.
Many people aren’t aware of the variations between online social networks because there is enormous overlap of features on the various sites. As an example, HubPages can be used for either business networking or to just have fun. Thousands of user-created free networking communities have sprung up all over the Internet, such as Book Market. These type of social networking sites are significant because they’re completely user-driven and allow focused conversations surrounding people’s interests. Interests can be as specific as book aficionados, who now have many online communities geared just to them. Social networks like LibraryThing have everything from chats, book reviews and online bookshelves. A less interactive format that is just as important as online networking is online social bookmarking, because it opens up new worlds of information storage and retrieval. Social bookmarking sites like Reddit allow people to save their favorite bookmarks so they can access them online any time. These sites are also powerful for people who are searching for information, because searches are greatly enhanced by tagging. The ability to use keyword tagging also is of value to Web marketers, because they know they will lead to backlinks for their sites. One social bookmark doesn’t really mean anything in terms of backlinks yet when a site has many of them, it can change the amount of search engine traffic it receives. And with sites such as Mixx, if a URL is posted on one of these bookmarking sites that has good pagerank, top search engine rankings can be had for that page if it has good keyword tags and was submitted properly.
The boundaries are made even more murky with sites like Yahoo Buzz, which allow social networking and social bookmarking. They are quite useful for bookmarking URLs but they also provide a powerful platform for online social networking and marketing. You can make a lot of friends on these sites and blog posts featured on these social networking sites have the potential to rank well in Google and other search engines. Tremendous benefits such as these are the reason people who make their livings online love online social media sites.
