My sister is a nurse and started out as a medical assistant. I have always listened with interest on what she has done throughout her varied experiences and career. I find the medical profession fascinating and have thoroughly enjoyed my voyeuristic glimpses into that world. My other sister used to supervise the MT’s in an orthopedic doctor’s office. Having some orthopedic issues myself, I visited the doctors and became involved in my diagnosis and treatment. That was some time ago. I believe that I am more informed than your average bear, and would be a great student and eventually, MT and beyond. It certainly helps if one is interested in the field in which they practice. I have the interest that drives me excel and I look forward to meeting my goals. I also believe in health-care reform. I am currently unemployed and uninsured. Fortunately, I am healthy but health care doesn’t mean only treating the sick or injured. It should be mostly about wellness programs and preventative care, including education. I think the system often overlooks the reality of what the current health-care costs really are. To have or be an excellent MT truly helps eliminate the cog in the wheel through efficiency and excellence of the practice. Of course this is only one facet of what is needed but it is a very important one, nonetheless.

The biggest advantage of working in the MT industry for me is the flexibility of working from home (or wherever I may travel). My parents are getting older and I live in another state from them. When the time comes for me to be with them more for frequent visits or providing long-term care, I will need a profession that allows me to take my work with me. Being a MT allows me to move my home office with relative ease. It is also a solid, respectful profession that seemingly will have high demand throughout the next several years. Technology (i.e. voice recognition software) cannot replace the human mind or the need for proper editing. With that in mind, I believe another advantage is job security. I have been in successful positions throughout my life and am now seeking something that I am interested in while being rewarding for me as I build for a solid, secure future.

Future MT is a practical medical transcription university and well-respected organization that seems to be truly intent on giving the best education at an affordable cost. The integrity shows through and is something I want to be a part of. Some specific key elements that I think Future MT provides include the range of medical disciplines studied at a self-pace, authentic physician dictation that includes a number of accents and dialects, and the thoroughness of the CD and textbook. I like the compact nature of learning, time, and practicality that this course provides.  SN:0MA9N2ESY

After completing my medical transcription online course and get a job, I would like to gain the experience to increase my skills performance to earn more money and become better-versed at the profession. Eventually I would like to proofread and supervise so that I can share my own learning experience and hopefully enable a new class of MT’s to contribute their best for a great career.
