Google Adwords the road to success

January 29th, 2010

Google Adwords is the most refined and popular pay-per-click advertising system on the internet. Not like regular search engine listings, which are listed free in step with “relevance,” as outlined by the particular search engine involved, Adwords are small text ads which typically appear to the right of the unpaid listings. Advertisers bid on specific “keywords”, which determines where the ad is displayed. However, in contrast to other search engines, where placement is completely determined by the amount of the bid, Google uses a complex calculation which additionally takes into the account the popularity of the ad as well. If you bid on enough low-cost keywords, you’ll be able to do still or better than if you had placed an expensive bid on a common term. You can additionally place a limit on your budget, therefore that you’ll be able to control how much your total expenditure is per month. You can also specify certain words you do not need included, therefore that you don’t attract a heap of clicks from folks looking for something connected that you do not offer.

The ad itself consists of 4 lines: a title of only 25 characters, an outline with 2 lines of up to 35 characters each, and a line for your url, additionally limited to thirty five characters. The title is what really attracts attention. It should embody the keyword you are targeting, and should be as hanging as attainable thus as to face out from the crowd. If it’s truly attention-getting, it might finish up getting a lot of clicks than alternative, duller ads higher up on the page. Some recommend that it should be in all caps, and embody a worth if possible.

The description ought to embody the most important selling purpose of your product, and conjointly embody enough info to discourage clicks by unqualified customers. Make sure they apprehend what you’re selling and what to expect, also what sets you aside from the competition.

Finally, build certain the URL listed takes them to the foremost relevant page in your web site for what they are looking for. Make sure the link is contemporary and functioning correctly.

That’s it in a nutshell, although the nuances are quite a bit additional advanced than we can pander to here. Several resources are available on the online which go into greater detail. Google Sued Over ‘Click Fraud’ in Adwords

January 29th, 2010

On June twenty four, 2005, a lawsuit was filed against Google for alleged click fraud on the Adwords pay-per-click program. Click Defense claims it has lost over $five million to click fraud.

Click Fraud

“Click fraud” may be a term with a unique which means on the Internet. It refers back to the deliberate clicking of pay-per-click advertisements by users that have no intent of really making a purchase. It’s common data that unethical companies can founded click centers oversees where individuals are paid nominal wages to click on certain ads. Alternatively, corporations will use programs referred to as “click bots” that automatically get hold of ads and do the identical thing. The end result, after all, may be a bevy of clicks that drain advertising budgets.

Google claims it takes acceptable precautionary measures. This claim, however, is typically met with a snicker since the only source of revenues for Google is advertising. This causes an inherent conflict of interest since Google desires to maximize clicks to come up with revenues. As a publicly traded company, Google is underneath pressure to continually show increased profits. Taking all of this under consideration, one must marvel how hard Google works to limit fraudulent clicks. If you have used the “content search” side of Google Adwords, the unimaginable poor conversion rates definitely should raise doubts in your mind.

Click Fraud Percentages

Neither Google, Overture nor any other search engine has been willing to publish click fraud rates for his or her paid advertising program. Hints are provided regarding a rate of twenty percent. Active advertisers know, however, the odds can be much higher depending on the competitiveness of the keywords in question. Click Defense, the Plaintiff within the lawsuit, is claiming a click fraud rate of 38 percent.

Can This Impact PPC?

The lawsuit against Google was inevitable. Every website using Adwords is tuned in to the matter with click fraud. Frankly, it’s a drawback with each pay-per-click search engine though our expertise has been better with Overture.

Thus, can this lawsuit force the search engines to scrub up their act? It’s laborious to say, however there ought to be one definite benefit. As part of the lawsuit, Google may be forced to reveal the true click fraud percentages occurring in Adwords. If Google moves to quickly settle the case, you must take it as an indication it desires to stay the rates confidential. This, in fact, will mean the click fraud percentages are high.

You ought to watch the progress of this lawsuit if you use pay-per-click search engines to market your site. Some very fascinating data ought to be revealed. Irrespective of the result, click fraud is simply another excuse to pursue search engine optimization strategies.

Google Adwords Ad Automator: The Next Big Thing

January 29th, 2010

Google is beta testing a brand new product which permits web site homeowners and AdWords advertisers to automatically generate their AdWords campaigns by submitting a list of their product details via information feeds. The search engine uses the knowledge from the feeds to work out the simplest keywords for those pages and automatically creates ads that link to them. This can be sensible news for any website owners who have a giant database of product as they can currently upload the whole lot at once.

The new Google ad automator feature is initially solely being offered to select Froogle merchants who conjointly advertise on the AdWords platform. The tool permits you to manage large, scalable campaigns without investing much time and effort. The ad automator dynamically generates accurate AdWords ads targeted to search queries. The content for these ads comes from the data feeds (that you submit as usually as you prefer) containing your product descriptions, specifications, and information. These information feeds are simply tab delaminated text files. You’ll be able to in fact use your existing Froogle data feed with some extra columns.

The AdWords system then generates ads from the content in your data feed (or from info you submit through the AdWords interface). This implies that you can either let Google create your ad copy for you or you’ll be able to set it yourself. It then frequently analyzes all search queries to determine whether they’re relevant to any of your products. When it finds a relevant match, it shows your ads on the search page results.

Once setup, you’ll be able to set daily campaign budget abundant sort of a normal adwords campaign. The CPC is about in one among 3 places. You’ll be able to either specify your most CPC in the info feed, in the AdWords interface, or you’ll allow Google to determine it for you. The later methodology automatically sets your max CPC by using the common CPC of the competing ads. Like traditional AdWords campaigns, you can have your ads displayed on each the Search Network or the Content Network, and geo-target them.

Some edges of Ad Automator are that ads are dynamically targeted to queries. They’re conjointly automatically compliant with AdWords policies; once your knowledge feed is approved, ads do not need to be reviewed again. You don’t need to make new ad text. You’ll be able to leverage existing product descriptions that are doubtless already on your website. (But, you will submit customized ad text in your knowledge feed or through the AdWords interface if you like.) You’ll be able to supplement existing selling efforts while not abundant further effort.

All in all I suppose this can be set to be a massive improvement when it is absolutely launched. It will compete with Yahoo’s Search Submit product whereby advertisers can pay to have their pages included within the search results.

Google Adwords – Manipulating Keywords For Success

January 29th, 2010

As you probably know, Google Adwords may be a pay-per-click solution offered by Google. Like other PPCs, you are given the ability to place your small advertisement on various platforms controlled by Google. While the platform provides you with a large audience, you want to manipulate your keywords to come up with success.

Matching Options

When running an Adwords campaign, you can and should define when your keywords can appear in search results. To do this, you’ll be able to select matching choices for every of your keywords to either reach a broad audience or target a niche.

The Google Adwords platform allows you to pick four matching options:

Broad Match

Broad match is that the default setting for an Adwords campaign. Broad match suggests that your ad can appear in search results when any combination of the words in your keyword phrase search. Several an advertiser has learned expensive lessons using this setting. Let’s examine an example.

Assume I am selling travel writing diaries and using “travel journals” as my keyword phrase. Any time a person enters any combination of “travel” and “journals” in an exceedingly search, my ad can appear. The ad will conjointly seem for plurals and relevant variations. Whereas this might sound great at first look, a broad match setting can lead to low quality hits and poor conversion rates. Someone looking out for travel journal stories goes to work out my link. Whereas a decent percentage will click my link, they are way less likely to shop for as a result of they’re just browsing. Using broad match, my prices go up and my conversions go down.

Broad match isn’t necessarily a unhealthy option. If your product makes a popular Christmas gift, you certainly want to use the broad match choice in November and December. You prospective purchasers can be motivated to buy. Even the “browsing” surfers will convert well.

Phrase Match

Phrase match may be a matching possibility that provides you a bit a lot of management over your ads. Phrase match tells the Adwords platform to only show your ad when a hunt is conducted for the actual order of your keyword phrase. Using the phrase match choice for “travel journals”, my ad would appear when someone hunt for a phrase with “travel journals” in it, however not “journals travel”. To use phrase match for keyword phrases, you merely place quotation marks around them.

Actual Match

Exact match is…exact match. It’s the most targeted option. You must use it only if you would like your ad to look in searches for the precise keyword phrase as written. As an example, if I need my ad to seem in searches for “travel journals” and zip else, I will use the precise match. To pick out the exact match choice, simply place brackets (“[]”) around the keyword phrase.

Negative Match

No, the negative match option doesn’t involve cussing, insults or adult sites. Instead, it allows you to designate which keyword phrase search results you do not need your ad to seem in. For example, I may not wish my travel journal product to seem in search results for “Amazon travel journals”. I’d simply list the keyword phrase with a dash (-) in front of it and my ad will not appear. The negative match option is a tremendous option for eliminating junk traffic from your Adwords campaign.

The Google Adwords platform is a tremendous advertising platform. Effectively manipulate your keywords and it can be a highly profitable one as well.

Beginner’s Guide to Launching a PPC Campaign

December 29th, 2009

Pay per click advertising methods are becoming increasingly attractive to many companies that want to promote their business on the Internet. Unlike organic search rankings, which take time to develop, pay per click advertising with Google Adwords can place your business on top of search engine results immediately.

Even though you are paying for this placement, you may be able to attract higher quality traffic and generate more interest in your website, product or service. Below are some guidelines for starting on pay per click campaign.

Step 1: Set your budget. Google Adwords, and other PPC programs, allow its users to set a daily or maximum ad budget. Use this option to make sure that you’ll only spend what you can afford. Set an initial low budget, just to test your market and check what types of people you are attracting. Alternatively, you can invest a lot of money in your PPC campaign and approach several different markets with different PPC ads to see what works, and what doesn’t.

Step 2: Identify your willingness to take on risks. Boris Mordkovich, in his book “Pay Per Click Search Engine Marketing Handbook” states that PPC campaigns are less risky than traditional tri-media campaigns. However, he adds that search engines provide different ROIs. Advertising with the more popular search engines may be more costly so you need to decide if you are willing to take on the added risks.

Step 3: Select your keywords and key phrases. There are many free online tools that you can use to discover the most relevant keywords for your market. Invest in some time and effort in using keyword tools to ensure that you have an optimal list of keywords for your niche. You can do this with A/B testing and monitoring the results.

Step 4: Monitor the results of your campaign. Most pay-per-click search engine advertising campaigns offer real-time reports of your campaign, which means you can find out what is working – and what isn’t – relatively easily. Reports will usually include the number of clicks for each keywords, the time of day your ad was clicked, and the location of those who clicked your ads.

Step 5: Optimize your ads. After reviewing the reports and finding out what worked for your campaign, you can stop paying for the keywords that bought in little to no traffic, and focus your efforts on the keywords that offer a better return. This list of keywords will allow you to focus more on creating and optimizing your ad copies.

It is easy to setup Google Ad words campaign but each campaign must be monitored  and fine-tuned to bring in profits. Follow these five steps to get results out of Google adwords.

How to Avoid Common Mistakes when Using Google Adwords

December 13th, 2009

Creating an effective Google Adwords campaign can be challenging for both beginners and experts, especially if you’re just beginning to use PPC advertising. While you can spend hours monitoring the market and seeing what your competitors are doing, the real lessons are learned when you create an ad and then focus on optimizing it for performance. Still, it is easy to make costly mistakes with this strategy; if you do not know what you are doing.

The book “The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords” is a must read for anyone who wants to break in into adwords. The author of the book, Perry Marshall, provides clear and concise information regarding Google advertising and direct marketing for both beginners and intermediate users who are looking to gain more from their campaigns.

The real purpose of Google Adwords is to make you a profit by bringing in qualified traffic into your website. Avoid these mistakes in order to have a successful ad words camapign.

1. Not writing keywords in your ad’s body. A lot of beginning Adwords users make the mistake of only using the keyword in the headline, and then nowhere else within the ad. Include at least 1 or 2 keywords in your ad copy for a more compelling ad.

2. Directing all traffic to your homepage.. Don’t ever send your visitors to your homepage when they click your ads. In most cases, a homepage serves to guide visitors to the different contents of a site. Those who click on ads do so for a specific content and they will immediately leave if they don’t instantly get the information they want. Give them what they’ve came for by directing them to a landing page listing your value proposition for them.

3. Relying on the ‘broad match’ function of the Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool. New users only use the ‘broad match’ function in coming up with keywords in Google’s Keyword selection tool. This tool is only useful for generating an initial list of keywords. Keywords produced from phrase matches and exact matches will yield keywords that are more apt and targeted to your market.

4. Using keywords that do not get results. Discovering the exact keywords your target market uses takes time. Monitor the performance of your ads to check if your keywords bring you the kind and volume of traffic that you desire. If they’re not, look for other keywords to focus on. The Google Ad Words Keyword Selector Tool has a ’synonym’ feature you can use to produce new keywords and make the most out of your campaigns.

5. Using an ineffective headline. Make sure you emphasize the ‘ultimate benefit’ right away in the headline of your copy. Headlines are important because they catch the attention of your reader and compel them to read the remainder of the copy.

If your site is about propagating half-breed roses, then ensure that phrase makes up about 1.5% to two percent of the text on one of your web pages. Use a keyword tool online to find the %, or merely ensure it shows up 5 to seven times per 500 words or so.

Ensure the phrase is in the title of your page, the first sentence of text, and in your meta description. Submit the site to the search engines ( or merely wait for their bots to move your page and save it in their cache ) and then see where your site ranks.
