Why Are Backlinks So Important?

January 6th, 2010

If you have a website or blog, then you probably heard about backlinks and SEO. Backlinks are incoming links to your website received from another web node. As more backlinks a website has, as more its popularity and authority grows in comparison to other similar web pages or sites. Backlinks are also known as inbound links, incoming links (IBL), inlinks and inward links.

Search engines determine the popularity of a website by evaluating a series of factors. This doesn’t mean that you have to exchange links with any other website; some websites may have a negative impact on the reputation of your site. It’s about those websites that were penalized by Google for various reasons.

It doesn’t make sense to receive backlinks from web pages that link back to a large number of different websites. You should rather try to get backlinks from websites with PR 0 or no PR, because their popularity might increase over time. Besides this, every link directed towards your website matters, because it represents a favorable vote from Google. To evaluate the quality of a backlink, you should consider its popularity, Page Rank and authority.

There are many ways to get backlinks, but not all are equally effective. Link exchange is the most popular strategy, consisting in the mutual exchange of links. Web directories are an important resource for any webmaster, especially those directories that don’t require a backlinks for offering direct links to your website. It’s an excellent way to get links without offering anything or at least without providing links on your website.

Getting backlinks from reputable websites with a high Page Rank is the most effective way to promote your website in search engines. A high Page Rank can be achieved by increasing the number of backlinks to your page. The more backlinks your page has, the higher your PR will be.

The most important is to make sure you have high quality content. No one will visit your website if there’s nothing interesting to read about. Also, participate to online discussions and join social networks, forums and other communities. If possible, buy links on pages with a high Page Rank.

Another important aspect is anchor text and webpage content congruency, which represents the textual form seen by Internet users. It is essential to find a relevant keyword for your website and use it in the website URLs. For example, if your website is about pharmaceutical products, you should build backlinks using the word “pharmacies”. If you get enough links that you beat the competition, you’ll achieve a higher position in search engines.

Affiliate networks often provide useful information about their products and how they fare on the network. This can save you time on research. This does not mean that you don’t need to do research on your own. You should never pay others to do the research, there are many affiliates willing to show you how to do this for free. Another simple and popular method is to use Google search engine. You simply type in some common phrases related to your market and analyze the results.

You may want to try the free keyword tools such as Google AdWords Keyword Tool or Free Wordtracker Keyword Tool, if you’re a newbie or have a limited cash. These free tools are limited in some functions, but they work just as well as paid ones.

Well, it’s a method of designing of your web pages so that they can generate the most profits. With affiliate marketing, it involves the design of your web page in such a way that all the focus goes to the affiliate product. There are many methods to design your web pages for monetization. Hyperlinks, standard square ads and banners are some of the popular tools for monetization. Never use AdSense for affiliate website because they often create distraction to your visitor. I don’t suggest you use them here.

Get Web Traffic

Getting people to visit your site is a very important thing to learn. Getting people to visit your site is called traffic generating. More traffic to your site equals to more potential sales.

There are various methods to generate traffic. Here are the 3 most common ones:

  • You can use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – Different methods which are free to use, that can bring your site to the top of the search engine results. However, SEO need massive effort and time before you get to see any result.
  • Pay-Per-Click Advertising – PPC gets traffic fast, but you need upfront cash. With PPC, you must keep track of your traffic spending because if you are not watching, you can waste a lot of money.
  • Web 2.0 (Social Networking Sites) – Social networking is very common these days and you can use networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook or forums to get website traffic. Bear in mind that while this method can reach out to many people, most social networking sites disallow promotion of affiliate products.

OurNEWSCafe.com Stands Ready to Handle Important Keyword Research Tasks

October 5th, 2009

keyword research

Keyword research is one of the most overlooked aspects of search engine optimization, but it is perhaps the most important.

There are ads everywhere on the Internet from companies offering guaranteed top-10 placements for your keywords in Google, Yahoo, etc. If you stop and think about it, not every keyword can be in the top 10 in search engine listings. Contact one of those agencies and tell them you want them to guarantee you a top-10 placement for the keyword Pepsi. A quick Google search shows that there are more than 30 million Web sites indexed for that keyword. If any 11 of those 30 million companies placed orders with the top search engine optimization firms in the world, at least one of the guarantees could not be delivered because there are not 11 slots in any top 10.

So you see why keyword research is important — about 30 million reasons why. If your site is about Pepsi, you have to know going in that if you want people to find you in the search engines, they are going to have to go through about 3 million pages of Google results to find you. You can understand why successful companies that can get your site correctly optimized for search engines are in high demand when you consider the fact that the vast majority of people don’t make it past the first page or two on Google or Yahoo.

Deciding on a more narrow focus for the site is one way to deal with the Pepsi problem described above. If you decided to do a site on the Pepsi logo, instead of just Pepsi, a check of Google shows that there are 222,000 sites indexed for the keyword phrase Pepsi logo, for example. Your chances of achieving a first-page rating increased by 135 percent, albeit it is still not a slam dunk. There are 14,400 sites indexed in Google for the keyword phrase Pepsi logo redesign, if you would decide to take the focus-narrowing process one more step. By doing so, your chances for a first-page ranking just improved by another 15 percent.

Finding the keyword niche that works best for what you are trying to achieve with your site and your online marketing is one of the problems OurNEWSCafe.com works to solve for its clients. And, we go another very important step – we find out just how many people are searching for the targeted keyword or keyword phrase. We discovered that there are very few searches for the keyword phrase Pepsi logo redesign in any given month, so a first-page ranking for that phrase still may not generate enough clicks and page views to accomplish your goals, in this case.

OurNewsCafe.com is here to take care of all of those keyword research issues for you, so you can do what you do best: run your business.

Market Samurai Revealed

September 30th, 2009

During Ed Dale’s 30-day Challenge in late 2008, Noble Samurai released their new keyword research tool, Market Samurai. The program has since garnered an incredible amount of attention and hype, but few have really reviewed it to see whether it actually warrants its lofty reputation. In this Market Samurai review, I’ll relate my own experience with the product, and talk about a few of its many useful features.
We should begin by stating that Market Samurai is not just another tool for keyword research. Its many modules also include important capabilities like content finding, analyzing search engine competition, tracking website rankings, and website promotion. There are also additional modules in the works that will help you to monetize your site, publish content, and manage your Google AdWords campaigns.
Those extra tools are a huge bonus, and will really help you if you take the time to familiarize yourself with their capabilities. However, where Market Samurai truly excels is in the area of keyword research and analysis.
The easiest way to begin research with Market Samurai is to select a generic niche keyword. You can also choose the number of words you want in your keyword phrase – a useful feature for targeting long keywords. As the search runs, Market Samurai will present you with a compiled list of somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 keywords that are directly associated with the one you chose.
Since those 200 have real association with your target keyword, the seemingly small number is more than enough. And while you can repeat the search to locate additional keywords, most people find that the 200 number more than meets their needs.
You can even choose to perform additional analysis on your keywords, as every keyword listed provides data on AdWords information, Organic Searches, Commerciality, and Competition Information, which are explained below:
Expected SEO traffic based on top Google ranking
Information on Commerciality:
Commerciality includes the OCI, or the chance that a searcher is actually looking to make a purchase, the AdWords Value in the market, and the SEO value – which is estimated based on a high search engine ranking.
The Competition Information details the SEO and Title Competition, which includes that number of sites that mention your keyword or have it in their page title; and the AdWords Advertiser Competition, which shows you how heavy the Google AdWords advertiser competition is for that individual keyword.
Obviously, there is a tremendous amount of information to be gleaned from each keyword, simplifying the keyword selection and targeting processes.
I really liked the SEO Competition tool, and found it to be one of Market Samurai’s more impressive features. With it, I was able to analyze my competition for each keyword, and discover just how easy or difficult ranking any given keyword would be. It saved me a ton of time and much trial and error! Using the SEO Competition tool, I had the ability to discover every important piece of information on the top 10 websites that used a given keyword, including the Domain Age, number of Backlinks, and a host of other on-page data. For me, this module alone was enough to make me happy that I had purchased Market Samurai – everything else was icing on the cake!
There is little question that Market Samurai is the gold standard for keyword research tools. Having used a number of keyword research tools, I can attest to the fact that none of them approach the value and efficiency of Market Samurai. This program truly is the best keyword research tool available.
Market Samurai is a good example of a product that can help you earn more online. Get the inside word on other hot products like Commission Blueprint by checking out our tell-all reviews of these products today.

Researching Keywords: In House or Contract

September 3rd, 2009

Should I hire keyword research or should I do it myself effectively?

A number of related issues go into the answer to that core question. Among the most important of those are these:

1. The depth of your knowledge concerning directly and tangently related keywords

2. The keyword software that you have at your disposal

3. Your skills at using the software

4. Your ability to interpret the results so that you are able to separate the useful words and phrases from those that will have little business significance

5. The overall amount of money that you have available for business development

As you can see, all of these come down to what you know and how much money you have to dedicate to this part of your Internet business plan. Let me address each of those in a bit more detail.

Your Familiarity with Keyword Research

Identifying relevant keywords and phrases is as important as any other part of your new business. In fact, it is more important than most of your planning. The lengthy list that you generate is central to all of your marketing efforts. The tactics impacted include your article marketing, your search engine optimization, your paid advertising and your copywriting. In other words, without a good foundation of keyword research, all other aspects of your marketing will suffer.

There are many tools available online. Some are free to use, such as Google’s tool; others are not. You must be willing and able to use a mix of these resources in order to develop the most comprehensive list. You should gather information comparing keyword research software options.

Most of the tools are relatively easy to use, but the interpretation of your results can be difficult unless you have experience in doing so. Each keyword that you discover will not have the same value to you as every other keyword, and a high volume of searches for a certain keyword does not necessarily make that keyword of greater importance to you than another term or phrase for which there may be substantially fewer searches.

Financial Issues

I believe that even if your funds are limited, keyword research is so important that, if you are not capable of conducting and interpreting the study, this is a place to spend those precious financial resources. The cost of a keyword research package is relatively small when you consider the potential return on that investment. I recommend that, if you do hire professionals for this task, that you make sure that they also do a competitive analysis of your industry or niche and offer advice concerning how to use the findings of the study to your competitive advantage.

Sometimes, although not always, researching keywords is part of an overall search engine optimization (SEO) package. These contracts are considerably more expensive. If you choose to go this route, make sure you understand exactly how thorough your SEO company will be.

Bottom line: You can do this task yourself if you already know a great deal about the process (or are willing to take the time to learn what you need to) and if you have the critical tools.
