Achieve Your Goals

Overcome Your Anxieties

Everyone dreams. We dream of success, nice homes, fast cars, and enjoyable vacations.

Past disappointments tend to limit our willingness to take the risks necessary to become successful.  Because some of us are intimidated by the internet, we don’t go all out to realize our dreams of success with our internet businesses.

Change happens so rapidly that it’s very difficult to keep up with the latest internet marketing strategies.  So how do we find the wisdom and the courage to take the next step on our journey to achieving our goals?

Attitude Is Critical

Sir Winston Churchill once said, “Success is measured by your ability to maintain enthusiasm between failures.”

Every day my inbox is filled with advertisements for newer and better ways to perform internet marketing.  But which ones actually work, and more importantly, which ones will work for me?  In many cases, the only way to find out is to give them a try.

Success Personality

One Gallup organization in-depth study of the “success personality” explored the attitudes and traits of 1500 randomly selected individuals from Who’s Who in America. The three most significant traits they found were:

1) Common Sense – the ability to simplify a complex subject by getting to the core of what matters

2) Knowing One’s Field – first-hand knowledge as well as support from experienced coaches, and

3) Self-Reliance

Noted author, Brian Tracy, has stated, “All successful men and women are big dreamers. They visualize their ideal future and then do the legwork necessary to realize those dreams.”

Success Formula

If you want to achieve your dreams, apply the following success formula:

1) Determine your desired outcome(s)

2) Be proactive – meaning, do something!

3) Notice and feedback results

4) If the results are not what you want, change your strategy

For home business owners, the ability to maintain enthusiasm between failures (or more likely, between massive sales) will, indeed, separate the successful ones from the unsuccessful ones.

And one of the best ways to maintain your enthusiasm is to associate yourself with successful people – teachers, mentors and other gurus who’ve “been there and done that” and are already successful.

One excellent starting point for picking up all the knowledge about internet marketing that you will need is to join the Online Success for Beginners program.

Five fantastic audio books written especially for business people

August 17th, 2009

I know from experience, and from talking with other business colleagues that we are all serious about improving their business, sometimes just don't have the time to read and take courses.

And this is right where audio books have now started to play an incredible important role in our lives.

I'm assuming that if you're reading this, you're a businessman or woman, interesting in improving your business acumen - and now you can! Just use the amazing value inherent in listening to audio books. Another huge benefit of audio books is that you never have to worry again about not having the time to finish, or having the will power to actually turn the pages of a book.

With an audio book you can enjoy the same value of any business book when preparing to go to work in the morning, when commuting to and fro work, etc.

If you are at loose for the specific business audio books to go for, below are 5 of some of the best that any business person shouldn’t do without listening to:

1. How to win friends and influence people – by Dale Carnegie

You might think a little differently to me, but in my world, the absolute most important aspect of my business is PEOPLE. It is vital that you understand the importance of the people - they are the life blood that keeps your business going.

There aren't just the people that bring in the sales, these people are also the ones that make the sales a possibility in the first place. To be able to succeed at this, we all need to know "how to win friends and influence people".

This book has worldwide acclaim and has received many, many accolades. It really is the "must have" book for anyone who has a business, or is interested in improving themselves in their business.

With the power of the information contained in this book, you can learn not just how to influence people to bring in more sales for your business, but most importantly how to win your friends and staff that will help you make the sales possible.

With audiobooks, you can kill two birds with 1 stone - listen to and audio book both enjoying and learning at the same time - whilst you are travelling from home to the office and back.

2. It’s not the big that eat the small… it’s the fast that eat the slow – by Jason Jennings and Laurence Haughton

CHANGE is the word of the moment - every business needs to embrace this word and it's very important meaning for your company. In this era where what was the latest yesterday is no longer the latest today, we need to constantly be ready to embrace change.

This audio book by Jason Jennings and Laurence Haughton, provides you with all the information on how to keep your company afloat, despite the ever-changing nature of business today.

The fastest organizations on the planet today are the ones that will thrive. In this audiobook you will learn how to make sure your company is right up there with the fastest. You will be given examples of how to make these improvements, using numerous tried and tested methods, including the power of commerce, deployment of resources, and excellent people management.

3. Management Challenges for the 21st Century – by Peter F. Drucker

As you probably already know, in a gathering of experts on the subject, one name stands way above all the rest when it comes to business management and leadership. That name is Peter F. Drucker.

Being an expert of the industry and writing about it for a staggering 80 years, Drucker is not just talking from theory. I don't think anyone could possibly have more experience in the field of business and management.

This audiobook title explores in depth how 21st century management challenges can be handled by business professionals.

4. Jack: Straight from the Gut – by Jack Welch

Nobody could ever deny that Jack Welch is right at the top of the list of must successful CEOs ever.

In this powerful thought-provoking audio book, he tells his story detailing how you can follow his steps to become one of the most successful persons in your career today.

5. Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap – by Jim Collins

You can't argue with the fact that "without the techniques and strategies, no company or business can excel beyond a few days, weeks or even months".

Businesses and companies that have stood the test of time for many years know what to do and have done them right.

The author has taken quite some time to collate the results from his extensive studies of companies who have had business success for many, many years - looking into what they are doing so right, that their counterparts are not.

The power of the information contained within this business audio book can help any business person to succeed.

I can guarantee that the five audio books I have selected (and have listened to in-depth myself) can really boost both your career and your business if you are willing to apply what you learn from them.

Online Business and Ebay

July 26th, 2009

Ebay Weird Al Yankovic

Have you considered starting an Ebay Business? In the United States more than 430,000 people are working full or part time on Ebay.  It may be easier to start an Ebay business than you think.

If you feel Ebay is just a novelty item or low value trinket type outlet, you should take another look.  Anything from trinkets to antiques and automobiles, can be sold on an Ebay business.  The five highest categories were auto suppliers and automobiles, consumer electronics, computers, clothes and accessories, books, movies and music.

Back in 1995 Ebay was started and has become the worlds biggest online auction place selling every kind or product and service you can imagine. There is about 1,000 dollars in sales every second. In 32 countries there are 135 million registered users.  You can see your Ebay business will have a large audience and exposure.

Before you start with an Ebay business you should consider if you want to be a full time business or just a part time hobby.  Do you want to work from your home or set up an outside office to work from?  Do you want to work on your own or do you want to have employees?  Do you want to become a Power Seller or a Trade Assistant?

Practicing a little bit is a good idea before officially opening your Ebay business.  You can try different description and headlines on a small scale.  Practice taking pictures and try different listing formats.  To get comfortable and confident, first try to sell one or two items at a time.   This all will make your chances of success much greater when you take your Ebay business to the next level.

Getting set up with an Ebay business just takes a few minutes.  You will need to supply them with your name, address, telephone number, a credit card and or a checking account.  This is used for identification and payment of fees purposes.  When setting up your Ebay business you may also want to open a PayPal account.  This service is owned by Ebay and allows people to use credit cards or their checking accounts to make payments.  It also eliminates the need to have a costly merchant account.

When you set up your Ebay business remember to set up your  “About Me” page, which is a free ebay technique that gives you the ability to to promote yourself and your business.

When you start your Ebay business you may want to register with Federal, State, and local tax authorities.  You also may want to form a corporation or LLC to protect yourself from any legal liability.

Your Ebay business now requires something to sell.  This can be the most difficult challenge you will face with your Ebay business.  You need to pick something that you know about, has a profit potential, and is not difficult to photograph or ship.  Before you offer merchandise up for sale look to see what similar items sold for and ask yourself, can I make money with this?  A key point to remember what ever it is you offer is that it will fill a need.

Your chances of success in you Ebay business are greater if it is convenient for you to buy.  This means your Ebay business should sell similar items.  If you sell CD’s then having CD racks or players would be an excellent combination.  The more compatible items you have on sale the better your chances of success.  People would much rather purchase what is needed at one place.
Remember try not to get complacent after you have gotten comfortable with all the auction formats, and other aspects of your Ebay business.  You will want to read about any new features, keep in touch with your customers, and also be mindful of what your competition is doing.  If you are not growing and adapting your not taking your Ebay business to its full capacityand attaining you’re earning potential.  Not only will you be more successful with your Ebay business but you will have more fun. Now get to it.
